Peritus

• Emperor of the Elves

  Peritus has fair skin with an almost golden hue, supremely high cheekbones, and sharply pointed ears; the hallmark of the elven race. He also has cold grey eyes, short, thick, red hair with beads and braids tucked into it, and missing pinky finger on his right hand.
  
  As a child, his family consisted of only him and mother, whom he knew to be the kindest and most compassionate soul in the world. But when a deadly plague struck half the Elvish Wilds, his mother had been among the first casualties. The plague divided the elvish people, and no one from the afflicted side was allowed to cross over. The sickness ravaged their side until all that was left the young and the strong. A group of them banded together under a man named Kaedar, where Peritus learned to be ruthless and cold-hearted, and where he adopted a part of his personal moral code: that the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few.
  
  Later, as an adult, and long after the plague had ended and the quarantine stopped being enforced, Peritus betrayed the Emperor of his people and took part in a political stance against attempting to conquer the entire world- a move that he knew his people would not survive. He displaced the Emperor in legendary battle that won him many enemies, and became the new leader of elves.
  
  His cold and ruthless tactic have earned him the epithet of 'the Black-Hearted', and he has learned to rule over his people through fear. But despite all his sins, Peritus believes first and foremost in protecting the young and innocent like he remembers his mother having been. He doesn't view himself in a very pleasant light.
